Flapper Cameo Series by Peter Max. Silk screen lithograph by the famous american pop artist Peter Max. Flapper is a rare original 1st edition lithograph from the Cameo Series during his Cosmic Sixties period. Published by Peter Max Poster Group N.Y.C. in the late 1960’s. Flapper is in great vintage mint condition, excellent colors and nothing edgy on the edges. Just perfect as it can be. The collage and the colors are a real eye catcher. An exceptional standalone Peter Max masterpiece from that era. A must have!
Peter Max has painted Popes, Presidents, Beatles, Aidas, Airplanes and American heroes. His color-blasted, kinetic images have been expanded to 40,000 square feet to cover the hull of a Norwegian cruise ship. Or shrunk to the size of a postage stamp (for an actual 1974 U.S. Postal Service 10-cent stamp). He has worked on sections of the broken Berlin Wall and at teeming Super Bowl stadiums. Max has been praised on the covers of Time, Life, Newsweek and the New York Times Magazine, and he has been famous since the 1960s, a decade he defined perhaps better than any other visual artist of the time. Psychedelic shapes and colors in all hues of the rainbow dominate the art of German-American illustrator Peter Max. In the 1960s his interest for astrology greatly influenced his work which he later referred to as his „Cosmic 60s“ period. Since the 1990s he was continuously engaged to artistically stage mega events like the Grammy Awards or Super Bowl. In 2010 the icon of pop culture painted the pictures for country star Taylor Swift’s album „Fearless & Speak Now“ who he has been friends with for quite some while.
This Lithograph is category A. It still may have tiny irritations (the beauty of original vintage), which can be seen on the high res. pop-up image of the product.
